I Teach, Therefore I Am...
...the person in charge of training of our company's employees.
You read correctly. Since the installation of a new switchboard and digital phones, no one in the entire agency knows how to use them correctly. Who would blame them since they "magically" appeared from one day to the next. But don't think that we as an IT Department were that cruel: we provided the instruction booklet and manuals for the device.
Unfortunately, in regards to technology, our employees' power of retention are as "wet as a wart hog's backside," as Scar from The Lion King would say. So my supervisor gets the bright idea to assign me the task of memorizing the phone's functions, prepare a presentation and, get this, teach the employees how to use them!
So I stood up to the challenge and, with my trusty Keynote 2 to help me display the different features of our new phones, managed to put together a pretty decent slideshow. Short, sweet, and to the point.
The days arrived, some of the employees showed up, I gave my keynote and to my surprise almost everybody left the conference room satisfied that they learned how to use their phones.
I must pat myself in the back for doing such a good job, but I also must thank Apple for putting out a solid piece of software like Keynote 2 to help me get the point across.
