Yesterday Evening And The Day After Tomorrow
Last night I went out with my wife and her mom to see the movie The Day After Tomorrow.
That's the short, short version. Here's what happened:
We drove down to Caguas, where the mother-in-law lives, to pick her up. It was a while since we visited. We still had her Mother's Day gifts in the car! When we arrived she greeted us and we gave her the better-late-than-never presents. She didn't seem quite as excited as I thought she would. I payed no mind at the moment.
We headed to the Caribbean Cinemas of Las Catalinas Mall and, to our surprise, apparently the entire city decided to invade the cinema that evening. We're talking a line that almost circled the theater. Not even at Disney World have I seen so many people! And inside: does the analogy "can of sardines" give you an image? So, we almost decided to drive back to San Juan when my wife suggested another theater in Caguas; the one located in Plaza Centro. Upon arriving, we noticed there wasn't much commotion so we bought our tickets and ran in.
Available tickets? Yes. Comfortable seating? No. We had to sit in the neck-break section. It's a good thing they opened another screening room. If not, I'd be at the chiropractor all day! Anyway, the movie was enjoyable: natural disater, worldwide panic, hard-headed government, and geeks get to be heroes. A formula fit for VH1's SuperSecret Movie Rules. If you saw Deep Impact, then it's the same thing, only with lot's of snow.
What I recommend: wait for Blockbuster or Video Ave. to have it in stock, throw in Volcano and Deep Impact, and make a weekend out of it.
