To DVD or Not To DVD

I've been putting off a project that my wife asked me as a personal favor. She had these VHS tapes lent to her by a master's degree professor and wanted copies of them. Since we don't have an additional VHS recoder, I decided to go the digital route: transfer the tapes to my PowerBook and burn the videos to DVD.

I managed to import the video from the VHS to my laptop, using my digital videocamera as a converter. Then I arranged all the clips in iMovie and there they sat for a week or so. Today I finally got off my lazy rear and finished editing and organizing the footage. Once the DVD chapters were marked, I dumped the whole thing into iDVD. It's encoding the whole thing right now as I type this. After its finished, I'll just burn the DVD and my wife can enjoy her educational videos once again!

Since it's a nice day out, I might go with her to the pool while I wait for the disc to finish!
