Spreading The Word Of Steve

As most of you readers might know, or at least deduced, I'm an avid Mac user. I try to open the eyes of those stuck in the Windows world of what they can get out of using an Apple computer. This time around, someone even closer to my family was the soul needed to be saved.

On Monday, my godfather, a successful attorney with his own personal style, has been lugging around a Compaq laptop for the last couple of years. He tells me of how tired he is of it, the way it looks, and how much it weighs. Knowing that I work in the field of IT, he asked my opinion of what laptop I would recommend.

Now, I know you might think I'm a zealous evangelist who puts down the competition in favor of my preferred computing platform. Not so. I did point out the pros and cons of each ranging from price and cost of ownership to stability and security.

Since I had my PowerBook with me, I showed him the look and feel of the Mac, its operating system, and the various programs that come included. Among these, I demonstrated iPhoto, iTunes, and, of course, GarageBand. When he saw the musical capabilities that GarageBand offered, he was totally hooked and that he'd call me as soon as he could purchase the machine.

Why do I do this? Simple: the satsfaction of seeing others enjoy their computing experience. I don't get paid in any way by Steve Jobs to do this. Would you charge the Pope each time you get someone to join your Church?
