And Another One Bites The Apple

The user is changing... I feel it in the operating system,
I hear it in the startup sound, I see it in the user interface.
The Windows user that once was is now lost,
for one now lives to tell about it.

Sorry to the Lord of the Rings fans if I massacred Galadriel's opening words so I could say the following: a good friend of mine, a Windows user all his life, never even straying off the path paved by Bill Gates, is about to consider buying an Apple laptop!

When I heard of this, besides rejoicing to Steve Almighty, I gave him a call and offered to help him in figuring out if the machine he wants to buy will suit his needs. This guy at his job bought an iBook a couple of years ago. But being a Windows user, he didn't grasp the new OS and quickly got frustrated. Now this guy wants to sell the machine to my friend, so Gerardo to the rescue!

The model is an iBook SE, the graphite-colored clamshell version before the white ones came out. It has pretty good specs for a machine in which to introduce yourself to the wonderful world of Mac. But before my friend puts down any cash, I offered to investigate the pros and cons of the iBook. From what I've gathered, the speed and capacity are good enough to install the latest OS and Microsoft Office, surf the Web, and exchange email.

So, if the price point is right, my pal will join the ranks of being the proud owner of an Apple Macintosh and he just might forget all about the Windows XP-erience!
